As a result of Ausgrid’s network inspection processes, we have identified four power poles that require replacement along Sarah’s Walk, Mosman (off Morella Road).
The poles are located amongst bushland and are difficult to access by land. Ausgrid will therefore be using a chartered commercial helicopter to deliver and install replacement poles along Sarah’s Walk on Wednesday 25 June.
The works will start at 7.30am and we expect the works and pole delivery to take approximately two hours. There will be traffic control in place during the operation.
Within the next week, Ausgrid representatives will be door knocking to those homes and businesses within the ‘exclusion zone’ to explain the project and request they vacate their properties by 7.00am on the day of works.
For residents and businesses outside of the exclusion zone, we are providing this notification to you for your information. If you are located outside of the 75-metre exclusion zone, there is no action required.
There is no plan to interrupt power during this work.
Project commencement and helicopter activity
The helicopter and project team will be commencing works from 7.30am, which is dependent on all persons vacating properties within the exclusion zone by 7.00am. We plan to conclude at 9.30am.
The activity will involve a helicopter flying to the nearby park, Clifton Gardens Reserve, Chowder Bay where each pole (four in total) will be collected singularly and airlifted vertically to Sarah’s Walk, approximately 150m from the pick-up location. Each pole will be delivered using a lifting harness where it will be lowered to its designated location. There will be Ausgrid crew on the ground to help guide the pole in place.
There will be traffic management in place within the exclusion zone during the morning of works.
In the event of adverse weather conditions, the work will be re-scheduled for a later date. Should this occur, you will be notified in the morning of the planned work and advised of the new scheduled dates in time.
Requirement for persons living/working within 75 metres of the exclusion zone
Due to the nature and risks involved in air travel and the regulations set by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority, it is a requirement that all persons be 75 metres away from the flight path/delivery area. We have identified this area on the map overleaf as the ‘exclusion zone’. Therefore, it is a requirement that all persons who are located within the exclusion zone vacate their property during the aircraft travel period. If not, the helicopter is unable to proceed, and this will delay the project.
Precautions and considerations for occupants and homes within the exclusion zone
• Secure external house furnishings such as outdoor furniture, green houses, kayaks and other loose items that may move in the presence of a helicopter.
• Refrain from having clothing or loose items on external lines.
• All persons and pets to vacate their property by 7.00am and be outside of the exclusion zone for the duration of the work. Please see map indicating planned worksites and exclusion zones
