Concrete Road Works - Bay Street, Mosman

Monday 30 September – Friday 4 October 2019 Scheduled


Council contractor TGB & Son will be undertaking Concrete Road Works along Bay Street, Mosman. The works are located along Bay Street between Central Ave and Quakers Road and are programmed to commence the week commencing 30 September 2019 and will take 1 week weather permitting. Council’s contractor will notify the affected residents. Please note that southbound lane of Bay Street will be closed between Central Ave and Quakers Road . Traffic and pedestrian control will be in effect and parking will be suspended in these areas for the duration of works. Please note that as this section of Bay Street will be closed for the duration of works, access to the driveways of 59 through to 67 Bay Street will not be possible. Middle Head Road New Pedestrian Refuge Island

Monday 16 September – Monday 30 September 2019 In progress


Council’s Contractor, Stateline Asphalt will be constructing a new pedestrian refuge island on Middle Head Road, Mosman. The new refuge island and footpath works will link to North Headland Park footpath.  The work is scheduled to commence Monday the 16 September 2019 and should be completed before the end of September, weather permitting. The contractor will confirm the dates of work closer to the date. Standard working hours will be from 7:00am to 6:00 pm, Monday to Friday and Saturday 8am to 1pm. Lindsay Lane Pavement and Kerb and Gutter Renewal Works

Wednesday 14 August – Wednesday 28 August 2019 Completed


Council’s Contractor, Stateline Asphalt will be completing the road asphalt pavement in Lindsay Lane between the side streets of Cowles Road and Bardwell Road, Mosman. The work will be completed Friday 23 August 2019 weather permitting. Due rubbish bin collection not able to be completed on the Thursday 22 August, Council will have a special rubbish collection on Monday 26 August. Please ensure all bins are placed kerb side for collection.

Traffic and pedestrian control will be in effect and parking will be suspended. At times and laneway will be closed and detours will be place when it is considered unsafe for vehicle or pedestrian movements but emergency access will be maintained at all times. Please ensure that your vehicles are NOT parked within the Work Zone areas and Council requests your cooperation to comply with the temporary traffic control measures. Mandolong Road and Field Way Intersection - Utilities Investigation Works

Council's contractor Tobco will be undertaking utilities investigation works on the night of 24 June 2019. The footpath area between the Mandolong Road and Field Way intersection and some areas of roads will be temporarily closed for these works but emergency access will be maintained at all times.

Standard working hours will be from 7:00am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday. Night works are currently scheduled for Friday 11 January at this stage only.

Spit East Streetscape Upgrade

Monday 15 October 2018 – Monday 10 June 2019 Completed


Mosman Council is undergoing a streetscape upgrade at Spit East. The project will improve the amenity and safety of the area, and enhance the site as the northern gateway to Mosman. The works will be conducted in 2 stages, with stage 1 developments now complete. Stage 2 focuses on the southern end near the commercial area, delivering an upgraded laneway and footpaths, new car parking, a new loading zone, signage and landscaping. 

Landscaping will be conducted as part of the works. 7 trees will be removed and 24 new trees will be planted. The net gain of 17 trees will replenish the landscape and create a more inviting and thriving open space.

Council thanks you for your cooperation while we undergo this project to improve the amenities, safety and pedestrian access at Spit East. Superba Lane - Road Closure

Royalist Road Closure (Lower Section) - Thursday 28/6/18

The lower section of Royalist Road will be closed from No 7 Royalist Road to the end of the street between 7am and 5pm for water connection works.Only vehcile access will be restricted during this time. Parriwi Road Closure

Thursday 24 May 2018 Completed


On Thursday 24 May Parriwi Road will be closed between the u-turn bay opposite Middle Harbour Yacht Club and Cyprian Street for the removal of a crane between 7:30am to 5:00pm (resident access to private properties will be maintained via the southern end of Parriwi Road). Traffic control will be in place.

Sydney bus services will be affected during this closure. A minibus will be available shuttling passengers from Parriwi Road to Spit Road. This service will be complimentary and no payment will be needed.Pedestrian and bicycle access will be maintained.

Civic Lane Shared Zone Upgrade

Monday 14 May – Saturday 30 June 2018 Completed


Construction of a shared zone has begun on Civic Lane. The shared zone will improve pedestrian access and safety between the Spit Junction interchange and Military Road shops by providing a more direct and peaceful route. The shared zone will reduce the speed limit to 10km/hr and give pedestrians right of way. Works are scheduled to span over a period of 6 weeks. The second stage, which is currently underway will involve the construction of a concrete base slab over Civic Lane. The road will be fully closed to vehicle traffic. Pedestrian access will also be temporarily removed to allow the completion of the works. Detours and signage will be in place.

Cabramatta Road Pavement Rehabilitation Works

[Update 2] Council has engaged Ozpave to undertake the works. The works are programed to commence 17 August 2017 and will be completed in two days weather permitting.

[Update] Council’s contractor Roadworx Surfacing Pty Ltd commenced road resurfacing works at Cabramatta Road, Mosman in April 2017.

Council understands that an application to wind up the company has been made and administrators have been appointed.

As such, Council is currently in the process of engaging a new contractor to complete the resurfacing works as soon as possible. As the proper procurement processes still need to be followed, it is anticipated that the works will now be completed before the end of August 2017.

UPDATE Military Rd - Night Road Works

The majority of works have been completed with only line marking and installation of traffic loops remaining. These works are not expected to generate excessive undue noise.

Council's Contractor Stateline is undertaking heavy patch road works on Military Road between Spit Road and Raglan Street. 

Works will be undertaken at night from 9pm-5am in accordance with the Traffic Management Centre's requirements to minimise the impact on traffic flow. The Contractor will endeavour to carry out the work in a manner that will cause minimum inconvenience. 

The works are expected to be completed by 21 July 2017, weather permitting.

Wunda Road Pavement Rehabilitation Works

[Update] Council’s contractor Roadworx Surfacing Pty Ltd commenced road resurfacing works at Wunda Road, Mosman in April 2017.

Council understands that an application to wind up the company has been made and administrators have been appointed.

As such, Council is currently in the process of engaging a new contractor to complete the resurfacing works as soon as possible. As the proper procurement processes still need to be followed, it is anticipated that the works will now be completed before the end of May 2017.

CONCRETE PAVEMENT RECONSTRUCTION - SIMPSON ST

Tuesday 23 June – Tuesday 30 June 2015 Completed


Council contractor Mack Civil Engineering will be constructing the damaged concrete section of Simpson St (approx 75m long) commencing coming wednesday 24 June 2015. The works will be carried out during the day between 07:00am to 05:00pm. Due to inclement weather Work zone signs have been put up in advance to give contractor the fliexibility to carry out works between tomorrow and next tuesaday 30 June 2015. All the residents are requested to avoid street parking. Local residents will be able to access their properties at all times during construction. The constructed section of road will be closed for all traffic for five days to allow newly poured concrete to set properly.

Access to emergency vehicles and buses will be permitted during the works; however all other traffic will be restricted. Parking on Military Road will not be permitted from 6:00 p.m. to 5:00 am during working hours. Given the heavy machinery required to undertake this type of work, noise disturbance is anticipated; however attempts will be made to minimise impacts to residents. Council requests that all vehicles be moved away from the areas indicated by barricades and work zone signage at the proposed work site by 6:00 pm and that no vehicles be parked in this area whilst the work is in progress without the contractor's permission. Hale Road Pedestrian Crossing Street Lighting Works

The work involves the demolition of the existing road pavement from kerb to kerb and replacement with full depth asphaltic concrete. Spencer Road - Civil Works

Council has received funding from the Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) to modify the existing chicane on Spencer Road, in front of number 38 Spencer Road to allow for cycle lanes. The design for the proposed work has been prepared and approved by the Local Traffic Committee.

The program of works will involve installing a bike lane and associated markings. The proposed work will not introduce any additional parking restrictions (No Stopping) in Spencer Road.

Council will temporarily close a section of Spencer Road between Bardwell Road and number 53 during the construction period so the work can be completed safely. Vehicular access to and from properties will be maintained:

  • Properties 40 to 120 and properties 53 to 123 – via Spofforth Street
  • Properties 2 to 32 and properties 1 to 43 – via Cowles Road and Bardwell Lane

Night work on Spit Road at the intersection of Warringah Road

Wednesday 15 May – Friday 14 June 2013 Completed


Downer EDI, on behalf of Roads and Maritime Services (RMS), will be undertaking road maintenance on Spit Road at the intersection of Warringah Road at Spit Junction.

Work is scheduled to commence on Wednesday 15 May 2013 and is expected to be completed by Friday 14 June 2013, weather permitting. Approximately two night shifts will be required to complete this work during this time.

This essential work involves concrete replacement and line marking to provide a stronger, more durable road surface, improving road safety.

Work will be done at night from 9pm-5am between Mondays and Fridays to minimise traffic impact and there will be partial lane closures during these general working hours to create a safe working area.

There will be noise associated with this work however every effort will be made to minimise the impact of noise on residents, including scheduling work at different locations each night.

During this work, motorists are asked to follow the signs, including reduced speed limits, and to follow the direction of traffic controllers. Minor delays are expected due to changed traffic conditions.
